Adjusting Everyone and Their Dog

Written By: Ian Silvester

Growing up, Jordana Beutelschies was sure of two things: she wanted to become a chiropractor, and she wanted to be a graduate of the 奥门开彩开奖结果 鈥 Fort Smith.

Beutelschies鈥 desire to be a chiropractor is in her blood. Her father, uncle, brother, and a cousin are all experts at providing adjustments. However, she wanted to help more than just people.

鈥淚 wanted to be a veterinarian and a chiropractor. I didn鈥檛 know they both existed in one job,鈥 she recalled. 鈥淎s I got older, (my) dad took me to an animal chiropractor, and I saw her in action. I thought, 鈥楾hat鈥檚 exactly what I want to be.鈥欌

The encounter solidified Beutelschies鈥 decision to become a chiropractor. After graduating from Van Buren High School, all she needed to take the next step in achieving her goal was to continue her education. That鈥檚 where 奥门开彩开奖结果 came in.

鈥淚 wanted to go to 奥门开彩开奖结果. I wanted to stay home,鈥 she said.

She began her time as a Lion studying biology. Before graduating in 2010, Beutelschies made the most of her time at 奥门开彩开奖结果. She was a cheerleader and a founding member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She was crowned Miss 奥门开彩开奖结果 the year after being runner-up.

However, as commencement approached, she decided to change her major. Beutelschies switched from biology to organizational leadership. A decision that she assumed would shape her future.

She couldn鈥檛 have been more right in her assumption.

鈥(Organizational Leadership) taught me a lot about how to lead a group, organize meetings, send emails, and things like that,鈥 Beutelschies said. She paused to look around her office, and with a finger swirling around to indicate the entire space, she explained, 鈥淲e designed this suite. (Organizational Leadership) taught me how to organize those plans and set meetings with those contractors.鈥

Beutelschies would go on to attend Parker University in Dallas, Texas, where she earned her chiropractic doctorate. During that time, she was accepted for an internship at the Dallas VA 鈥渙n the spot鈥 after 鈥渘ailing the interview,鈥 which she credited to her experience with Miss 奥门开彩开奖结果.

鈥淭hat experience made me more confident and helped me know how to explain big topics, like health and what chiropractic is, easily to people who may or may not get what a subluxation is,鈥 she said.

Knowing that not many people know what a subluxation is, Dr. B., as her staff and patients know her, quickly explained it with a joke.

鈥淲ell, it鈥檚 what I鈥檓 trained to feel,鈥 she said. Just as quickly as she teased, Beutelschies explained that a subluxation is the interference of the nerve pathways between the brain and organs they plug into.

Beutelschies and her family moved back to the Van Buren area, where she practiced with her brother at Seubold Chiropractic in Fort Smith for 7 years. In 2021, she opened her own chiropractic office in Van Buren, , where she treats people and animals.

鈥淲e adjust every body and their dog,鈥 she said, laughing.

Beutelschies is certified to treat animals and holds a Certification by the Academy Council for Chiropractic Pediatrics, which allows her to work with children. She also has a Webster Certification, which is a technique geared toward adjusting pregnant women.

Two-legged and four-legged patients are welcome at her office. While she typically will help adjust and analyze the gait of dogs, Beutelschies said that cats and the occasional bunny make it to her office. However, Fridays are reserved for her favorite patients: large animals such as horses, cows, sheep, or pigs.

She encourages anyone 鈥 or their animal 鈥 to schedule time for an adjustment by calling the office at 479-922-8185 or visiting to see all the services Dr. B. and her staff offer.
