University Learning Outcomes (ULO)

奥门开彩开奖结果's goal for students is to provide exceptional educational opportunities. The development and demonstration of specific abilities in disciplinary and interdisciplinary contexts are means to that end. A strong and viable general education program is central to the university's mission. 奥门开彩开奖结果 evaluates it鈥檚 general education program through the university learning outcome (ULO) assessment process.

Each program requires students to demonstrate proficiency, and the level of proficiency gained is continually assessed to improve student learning. In addition to program-specific learning outcomes established by each academic department (PLOs), 奥门开彩开奖结果 has implemented ULOs that contribute to the development of the whole person as an individual and a member of society. The faculty has established the following four ULOs for all students and have adopted the following rubrics for all ULO assessment activity.

 

Goals & Objectives

Goal: Students will use critical thinking skills to identify problems/issues and develop solutions/analysis.

Objectives:

  • Students will identify a problem or issue.
  • Students will research, evaluate, and compare information from varying sources in order to evaluate authority, accuracy, recency, and bias relevant to the problems/issues.
  • Students will generate solutions/analysis or problems/issues evaluated.
  • Students will assess and justify the solutions and/or analysis.

Goal: Students will assign and use numbers, read and analyze data, create models, draw inferences, and support conclusions based on sound mathematical reasoning.

Objectives:

  • Students will apply appropriate mathematical models to solve problems.
  • Students will represent mathematical information symbolically, visually, numerically, and verbally, and will interpret models and data with appropriate technology in order to draw inferences.
  • Students will recognize the limitations of quantitative analysis.

Goal: Students will communicate proficiently.

Objectives:

  • Students will compose coherent documents appropriate to the intended audience.
  • Students will effectively communicate orally in a public setting.

Goal: Students will model ethical decision鈥恗aking processes.
 
Objectives:
  • Students will identify ethical dilemmas and affected parties.
  • Students will apply ethical frameworks to resolve a variety of ethical dilemmas.
 

Goal: Students will appreciate and reflect upon cultural differences and their implications for interacting with people from cultures other than their own.
 
Objectives:
  • Students will demonstrate an understanding of their discipline in a global environment and apply the principles of their discipline within a global environment.
  • Students will demonstrate how their discipline impacts or is impacted by those of different cultures.

 
DATE/TIME PERIOD
 ACTIVITY
Oct. 1 Program faculty members submit their assessment plan (one plan per program) for the academic year based on the shared ULO the entire campus will assess.
Fall & Spring Semesters Program faculty members conduct assessments, collect and evaluate data, and assess the ULOs.
May 1 Program faculty members submit their assessment report detailing the results, strengths, weaknesses, and plan for modifications based upon the year's assessment activity.

  5. Summarize (2027-2028) - The results for each ULO goal will be summarized with descriptions of how assessment results were used to improve student learning. This data will be used to determine the ULO assessment of the ULO 5.0 Cycle.
